01.About
About
Software developer and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner with strong foundations in Linux system administration and full-stack development. Adept at managing complex environments — including Arch Linux configurations — and deploying secure, containerized applications. Combining hands-on automation, scripting, and terminal-based workflows to transition into impactful DevOps and DevSecOps engineering roles.
Currently: Freelance software and systems developer, architecting custom websites, tools, and cloud-centric deployments using Python, Node.js, and AWS infrastructure.
Open source & side projects: Polymerthcedric (main) · fidelcedric (learning & experiments)
Previously: Operational stewardship at Mirror of Hope CBO, where I managed logistics, trained staff, and supported service delivery.
Outside work: I maintain an Arch Linux rice with Hyprland, Neovim, and Waybar — all consistently themed with Catppuccin Mocha. Terminal-centric workflows are my default.

Digital financial tools in East Africa rarely support real-time multi-currency operations or seamless peer-to-peer transfers in a single interface. Users juggle multiple apps for KES, USD, and crypto without unified balance visibility.
Built a high-fidelity mobile banking prototype with Next.js 16 and React 19 featuring real-time balance conversions, multi-currency support, M-Pesa simulation, and FaceID authentication.
A working prototype deployed on Vercel demonstrating real-time currency conversion, P2P transfer flows, and a responsive mobile-first interface.
Key features
Contemporary art websites often rely on heavy frameworks or template-based designs that lack interactivity, performance optimization, and unique features. Visitors expect fast load times, responsive galleries, and engaging ways to explore artwork.
Built a zero-dependency static site with semantic HTML, clean CSS variables, and vanilla JavaScript. Integrated C image processing functions compiled to WebAssembly for real-time client-side image filters (grayscale, sepia, invert) inside a lightbox viewer. Converted all images to WebP, added lazy loading, Intersection Observer animations, JSON-LD structured data, and responsive breakpoints from 320px to 4K.
A fully responsive art gallery website with interactive WASM-powered image filters, SEO schema markup, sub-second load times, and a clean codebase. Deployed on GitHub Pages at fidelcedric.github.io/artvision.
Key features
Medical supply procurement in Kenya is fragmented — clinics and individuals struggle to find, compare, and pay for supplies online. No e-commerce platform in the space integrates M-Pesa mobile money for seamless checkout.
Built a full-stack e-commerce platform with React 19 frontend and Flask REST backend. Implemented M-Pesa STK Push integration for mobile payments, JWT-based user authentication, product CRUD with image upload, an AI chatbot for product discovery, and a dark mode toggle persisted across sessions via React Context.
A functional medical supplies marketplace with real M-Pesa payment flows, user accounts, and AI-assisted browsing. Deployed on GitHub Pages with Flask backend on PythonAnywhere.
Key features
Setting up a consistent, reproducible development environment across machines is time-consuming. I needed a declarative, version-controlled system for my Arch Linux rice that could be cloned and deployed on any fresh install.
Created a bare git repository tracking 233+ configuration files across Hyprland WM, Waybar, Kitty terminal, Rofi launcher, Neovim (LazyVim), Starship prompt, Tmux, Zsh, GTK/QT theming, and Catppuccin Mocha color scheme. Built a custom `ricesync` CLI script for track/commit/push/pull workflows.
A fully reproducible Arch Linux rice that can be deployed on any Arch machine in minutes with consistent Catppuccin Mocha theming across 15+ applications.
Key features
Small and medium businesses in Nairobi lack affordable, professional web presence. Most resort to generic templates or expensive agencies. There was a need for a zero-dependency, high-quality landing page that runs instantly without a build step.
Designed and built a single-page HTML site using Tailwind CSS via CDN and vanilla JavaScript. Implemented scroll-triggered Intersection Observer animations, a responsive mobile hamburger menu, a 6-card services grid, image gallery with hover overlays, and a contact section with Google Maps embed. Zero build tools, zero frameworks — just semantic HTML, utility CSS, and native JS.
A fully responsive, production-ready business landing page that loads instantly, works on any device, and can be deployed by opening a single file in a browser.
